A Wonderful First Inspection at Wonderland Nursery
We are absolutely delighted to share some very special news from Wonderland Nursery… we received a GOOD overall judgement at our first Quality Assurance Ofsted inspection, with OUTSTANDING in Quality of Education! 🌿✨
After being open for just 10 months, welcoming children into our little home nursery and watching our setting grow, having our first inspection was a huge milestone for us. To receive such wonderful feedback about something we care so deeply about is incredibly special.
Our Quality of Education judgement being Outstanding means so much to us. This is an area that we absolutely adore and pour so much love, thought and intention into every single day.
Our approach is deeply child-led. We take the time to really get to know each child, notice what sparks their curiosity and then build their learning around those interests. Our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach allows children to explore, investigate, create and learn together, with adults there to support, extend and celebrate their discoveries.
The inspector described our curriculum as:
“Alice provides a highly child-led curriculum influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach, with a strong emphasis on learning together and responding to children’s interests as they emerge.”
This is exactly what we strive for at Wonderland.
We were also incredibly proud of the comments about our outdoor environment:
“The outdoor environment offers a wide range of stimulating opportunities that support children’s physical development, curiosity and exploration.”
Our garden and outdoor spaces are such an important part of our setting. We want children to have the freedom to get messy, investigate the natural world, take risks, move their bodies and follow their own ideas.
The relationships we build with the children are at the heart of everything we do. It was lovely to have this recognised in our inspection:
“Interactions between adults and children are warm and purposeful, with both Alice and Sophie using play opportunities to extend learning naturally.”
And this quote really sums up what we hope every child experiences when they walk through our door:
“Alice demonstrates a strong understanding of each child and their individual needs, enabling her to respond confidently and appropriately throughout the day.”
We were also thrilled to receive such positive feedback about our mealtimes. Food is a big part of life at Wonderland, and we love sitting together, eating homemade meals and making mealtimes a social experience.
The report noted:
“Mealtimes are a positive and social part of the day, with children enjoying sitting together and sharing the experience.”
Another area that means a huge amount to us is supporting children’s emotional development. We want children to know that all of their feelings are welcome and that they have trusted adults around them to help them navigate those big emotions.
The inspector recognised this too:
“Children are given time and space to experience their emotions and seek comfort from familiar adults, helping them to feel secure and supported through co-regulation.”
So, what’s next?
Although we are incredibly proud of our Good overall judgement and our Outstanding Quality of Education, we are already looking ahead.
We were told that we are “well on our way to Outstanding,” with only a few small areas identified for us to develop further over the coming year.
For a Home Nursery that has only been open for 10 months, this feels like an incredible achievement.
Most importantly, though, this inspection has given us reassurance that the things we value most — our child-led approach, our relationships, our curriculum, our outdoor learning, our food and our emotional support — are making a genuine difference to the children in our care.
We have poured our hearts into creating Wonderland Nursery, and seeing this reflected in our first inspection report is something we will be incredibly proud of for a very long time.
Thank you to all of our wonderful families for trusting us with your little ones. 🤍
This is only the beginning for Wonderland Nursery, and we cannot wait to see where the next year takes us. 🌿☁️
Good overall. Outstanding in Quality of Education. And so much still to come.
